Education Without Discrimination
Beijing Open University (BJOU) has long sought new ways to better share education resources and further communication and cooperation in education. Now, working together with Apple, Beijing OU has joined iTunesU, officially making course resources available via iTunesU.
This online release provides courses in nine different categories, with a total of 255 teaching videos, with the aim of expanding multimedia education and realizing Confucius's "Education Without Discrimination". The goal is to allow more people to participate in and enjoy study.
The awards ceremony for the second batch of Grass-Roots Level National Model RTVUs (Tutorial Centres) in China was held along with a forum on the development of local radio and TV universities (RTVUs) from the 26th to the 27th of September in Ningbo. From the second to the twelfth of September 2010, an exchange delegation from the Open University of China (OUC) visited Japan and Korea. In Chiba, Japan, the delegation attended the second OUJ, OUC and KNOU International Seminar on Distance Education, with discussion centring on the professional development of teachers and support services for distance learning. In addition, the delegates visited the Study Centre of the Open University of Japan (OUJ) to learn about the centre's operations and management situation. The delegation visited the Korea Cyber University, exploring in depth the current status of Korea's online learning development and curriculum design. The delegation also explored avenues for future cooperation.
On the afternoon of July 16, 2010, at the convention of the OUC Cadre and Faculty Representatives, Deputy Director of the Department of Personnel of the Ministry of Education Xu Tao announced the decision of the Ministry of Education Party Group to appoint Yang Zhijian the new president of the Open University of China (OUC).

The 10th International Conference on Teaching and Learning Chinese successfully finished on August 20 2010 in Shenyang, China. The conference was jointly held by The International Society for Chinese Language Teaching and Hanban. The theme of the conference was "New Teaching Materials and Pedagogy in International Chinese Teaching and Learning". Nearly 400 society members and essay writers from 38 countries, including the USA and Canada, attended. The conference was intended to highlight the teaching experience of outstanding teachers at the forefront of Chinese language teaching all over the world. It consisted of three main parts: theme speeches, seminars and forums and the "International Chinese Teaching Demonstration Class". The OUC's Chinese Language Centre gave a full demonstration of its newly developed MyEChinese distance teaching platform, winning wide attention and approval.
On 21 June, Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) evaluation of the OUC's Educational Technology degree course was carried out in Baodi Branch School, Tianjin Open University. This evaluation was a cooperation by various departments of the OUC, including Research Institute of Open and Distance Education, Academic Affairs Office, Faculty of Teacher Education, International Cooperation and Exchange Division and Baodi Branch School, Tianjin Open University. It is an experiment in further education reform carried out by the OUC.
On 27 June 2010, Zhejiang Radio and TV University (ZJRTVU) held a ceremony to celebrate the establishment of its scholarship fund and its first awards.
