The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) pointed out that “we will promote the digitalisation of education and build a society and country of learning where lifelong learning is pursued by all” and restated that “we will pursue a proactive national strategy in response to population ageing”.
The council
The council consists of leaders from the Ministry of Education, the China National Working Commission on Ageing, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and leaders from the OUC, the Office of China National Working Commission on Ageing, China Association of Social Welfare under the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Occupational Skill Testing Authority (OSTA) under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Department of Vocational and Adult Education under the Ministry of Education, the Veteran Cadre Bureau of the Organisation Department of the CPC Central Committee, and the Retired Cadres Bureau of the Ministry of Education.

The OUC sent a delegation to Ireland and France for a collaborative dialogue with the Age-Friendly University Global Network (AFU Global Network) and the International Association of Universities of the Third Age (IAUTA). This visit aimed to exchange views on advancing senior education on an international scale.
