On November 17, 2011, China International Distance Education Conference 2011, China's annual meeting in the field of distance education, opened in Beijing. This year's conference is directed by the National Modern Distance Education Coordination Commission of Chinese Universities and Colleges and the Open University of China, and hosted by the Journal of Distance Education in China. The theme is "The Future of Digital Learning: Innovation through the Integration of Information Technology and Education".

On the morning of June 16, 2011, the award ceremony for "College Student of the Year 2010" was held in the Science Hall of the Beijing Jiaotong University, and Tie Feiyan, a student registered in 2010 to the Law Diploma programme in Yunnan Radio and TV University was chosen as one of the "College Students of the Year 2010". Liu Yandong, Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and State Councillor, attended the ceremony, conferred the prize and took a photo with her.

On 1st March 2011, the ceremony of "Inspiring National Strength — Chinese of the Year 2010" was held in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. On October 29th 2010, the Open University of China (OUC) Multimedia Press and the Chinese Society for Modern Educational Technology of the Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE) signed an agreement on audiovisual product promotion under the general cooperation project with China Calligraphy and Painting International University.

The OUC signed a strategic cooperative agreement with the CIE on July 29th 2010, making the decision to integrate their educational and academic resources for various degree and non-degree programmes in line with the principle of "serving the public with complementary advantages",
