Co-hosted by the Central Civilization Office and Chinese Civilization Network, “Best Chinese People” Awards in May have been announced recently. Lan Suwen, a student of Wencheng Branch of Zhejiang Radio & TV University (Zhejiang RTVU) who enrolled in the autumn of 2011 and majored in law, was selected as one of the “Most Dedicated Chinese People”.  

On June 6, 2013, Chongqing Radio and TV University (RTVU) launched its pilot programme of the Open Education Learner Support System (2013 Version) in the Digital Learner Harbor of its Continuing Education Institute. Fuling RTVU, Qianjiang RTVU, Yongchuan RTVU, Jiangong College and Continuing Education Institute are also included in the first group of pilot units.

The second session of the “International Chinese Teacher Training” project  organized by the OUC was held in Beijing from June 5-9, 2013. Key teachers and teaching management staff from Tianjin, Chongqing, Yunnan, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Anhui, Gansu, Heilongjiang, Guangxi, Chengdu, and Lanzhou attended this 5-day training programme. 

Students in the Model Worker Class who enrolled in 2011 and 2012 in Qingdao Radio & TV University (Qingdao RTVU) organized a blood drive at the Bus No.6 terminus to repay the Qingdao Federation of Trade Unions, Qingdao RTVU, and people from all sectors of the society. The activity also drew attention to June 14 — World Blood Donor Day.

The Open University UK (OUUK), a partner in the “Training for Online Learning Practitioners” project, has sent Dr. Martin Smith to the Open University of China (OUC) to help reform the project’s courses. Dr. Smith has held workshops with several course groups.

A delegation from New Zealand’s Massey University visited the Open University of China (OUC) on June 6, 2013. The delegation included Vice-Chancellor Steve Maharey and four other people. Zhang Shaogang, deputy secretary of the OUC Party Committee, and Yang Yongbo and Chen Haishan, director and deputy director of the OUC

On the morning of June 4, more than 100 students from the Tourism School of Shenzhen RTVU at the OCT EAST joyfully entered the lecture hall in order to attend their graduation ceremony. They are the first graduates of the school. Deng Mengzhong, party secretary of the Shenzhen RTVU Party Committee and president of Shenzhen RTVU, Hu Xinsheng, vice president of Shenzhen RTVU, Zhuang Bao, president of the Sha Tau Kok Campus of Shenzhen RTVU, and Hong Weijun, vice general manager of the Shenzhen OCT EAST also attended the graduation ceremony.

On May 25, 2013, an academician from the Chinese Academy of Science, and President of the Chinese Association of Automation, Dai Ruwei, visited Guizhou Radio & TV University (Guizhou RTVU) to deliver an excellent lecture entitled He Made the Country Strong — The Qian Xuesen I Knew.
