A ceremony for the renaming of Anhui Radio and TV University (Anhui RTVU) as Anhui Open University (Anhui OU) was held on the morning of 20 January 2021.
On 8 January 2021, the Institute of Educational Technology of the Open University (OUUK) and the Artificial Intelligence and Human Languages Lab of Beijing Foreign Studies University jointly published the ninth report on innovating pedagogy, namely, Innovating Pedagogy 2021. This year’s report proposes 10 innovations in pedagogy: best learning moments; enriched realities; gratitude as pedagogy; using chatbots in learning; equity-oriented pedagogy; hip-hop based education; student co-created teaching; telecollaboration for language learning; evidence-based teaching; and corpus-based pedagogy.

An opening ceremony to inaugurate Changchun Open University (Changchun OU) was held on 6 January 2021. Liu Xianghong, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Open University of China (OUC), Jia Lina, deputy mayor of Changchun, and Zhan Gaofeng, deputy director of Jilin Provincial Department of Education, attended the ceremony.
On 6 November 2022, a ceremony for the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement on the transformation and development of Jilin Open University (Jilin OU), along with the official opening of the university, was held in Jilin Hotel, marking the official renaming of Jilin Radio and TV University (Jilin RTVU) as Jilin OU.
