After the deliberation and approval of its leading Party group, the Ministry of Education released the OUC Comprehensive Reform Plan on 31 August 2020. The plan includes background, guiding principles and overall thought, specific tasks, and guarantee measures, as well as organisation and implementation. The full text reads as follows.

Having received approval from the Shandong Provincial Education Department to set up a Community Education Centre in Shandong and carry out pilot programmes for educating older adults in the province, the Shandong Branch of the Open University of China (OUC) has adopted measures to help the construction of continuing education there

One of the Shandong Branch’s projects, “Zaoshang Jujube Industry,” was recently awarded the CBC Cup silver prize in the vocational education category at the Sixth China (Shandong) International Internet Plus College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. This was the first time that open education students participated in such a competition, representing a significant milestone for the promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship across Shandong.

The final of the Sixth China (Qinghai) International Internet Plus College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held from 12-13 September 2020 at Qinghai Nationalities University. The outstanding performance of the Qinghai Branch of the Open University of China (OUC) stood out, winning one gold prize, three bronze prizes, and the prize for excellent organisation work.

"Cultivating professionals who possess moral integrity; work hard and can take on heavy responsibilities; eliminate poverty and lift the hopes of students through education.” Under this theme for Teachers’ Day 2020, the Open University of China (OUC) held a meeting on the afternoon of 10 September 2020 to celebrate this special day for teachers and commend staff with more than 30 years of work experience in the university,

On 7 September 2020, the Financial Management Department of the National Government Offices Administration (NGOA) and the Open University of China (OUC) jointly held an opening ceremony to launch the resource sharing platform for the universities for older adults affiliated to China’s state organs. Wang De, director of the Financial Management Department of the NGOA, and Jing Degang, secretary of the Party committee and president of the OUC, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.

On 4 September 2020, the Financial Management Department of the National Government Offices Administration (NGOA) signed a cooperation agreement with the Open University of China (OUC) to jointly build a resource sharing platform for universities for older adults affiliated to China’s state organs.

In a list released by the Ministry of Education on 4 September 2020, Professor Gao Hang, an external lecturer of the Open University of China (OUC), and 11 other teachers, including Zhong Nanshan and Zhang Boli, were selected as “National Role Models of Teaching and Education.”
