On 16 August 2019, secretary of the Party Committee of Dalian Jiaotong University, Que Chengyu, visited the Open University of China (OUC) to investigate its school running capabilities. Jing Degang, secretary of the Party Committee and president of the OUC, had a cordial meeting with Que Chengyu and his colleagues.

On the morning of 22 August 2019, a delegation including Jin Xiaotao, former deputy director of the National Health and Family Planning Commission and president of the Chinese Health Information and Big Data Association (CHIBD), and Huang Anpeng, deputy secretary-general of CHIBD, visited the Open University of China (OUC).

Miao embroidery refers to the embroidery skills and arts passed down by the Miao people in China. Miao embroidery is one of the unique manifestations of Miao history and culture, and the distillation of Miao women's diligence and wisdom. Miao embroidery has become an indispensable part of Miao culture in Xiushan Autonomous County, Chongqing.

Recently, a graduation ceremony for the Esquel Assistance Plan Project, part of the Open University of China (OUC) Action Plan for Realising Dreams of Further Education and the first of its kind, was held in Gaoming district, Foshan city. Lin Yu, vice president of the OUC, attended the graduation ceremony, delivered a speech, and issued diplomas to outstanding graduates.

On 16 August 2019, the evaluation results of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) were officially announced. The project Research on Vocational Education Models for Cultivating Innovative and Entrepreneurial Professionals Driven by the Tax System submitted by Wang Guopeng from the Open University of China(OUC) was approved by the NSFC and won funding.

On 14 April 2019, an opening ceremony for the second group of pilot projects on Multimodal Teaching Reform on Public English was held at Baoding Radio and TV University (Baoding RTVU) in Hebei Province. In April 2017, the Open University of China’s (OUC) Long March Belt Educational Project Targeted at Alleviating Poverty was formally initiated. Taking funds from its already tight budget, in an effort to block the intergenerational transmission of poverty, the OUC has moved to “root out poverty” in 25 poverty-stricken counties along the route of the Long March Belt covered by the Red Army. Since April 2017, the OUC has mobilised all of its system to promote the implementation of this ambitious and significant project.

The results of the Open University of China (OUC) system Teachers' Painting Competition, themed at “Forty Years Pass in a Flash, Leaving Fruitful Art in Their Wake: In Commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Establishment the Radio and TV University Approved by President Deng Xiaoping,” were recently revealed. Ninety-two award-winning works, 46 of which are paintings and 46 of which are calligraphy works, were selected. There were one special prize, five first prizes, ten second prizes, thirty third prizes, and several excellent prizes.
