The Open University of China (OUC) recently donated a batch of tables and chairs to Wangba Agriculture Middle School in Li County in Gansu Province, which were loaded on four trunks fenced with 9.6-metre rails and headed to the school.

The OUC has always attached great importance to the work of educational poverty alleviation and focused on the practical needs of Li County, using different ways to extend help to the county. The OUC Office of Poverty Alleviation learned from the educational bureau of Li County that the new campus of Wangba Agriculture Middle School has recently completed and many of its original tables and chairs at the canteen were too old to be used and there is a large demand for usable tables and chairs to be supplied. In order to provide the students there with safe and comfortable dining environment, the OUC president’s work meeting approved the application of donating 127 sets of unused tables and chairs in the value of RMB192,000 to the school.

Personnel from Educational Bureau of Li County said that, the donation of 127 tables and chairs do help improve the dining conditions for nearly 700 students and faculty in the school and fully demonstrates the OUC’s care and strong social responsibility regarding educational cause in Li County. Such endeavor not only offers substantial material help but also brings warmth to all people of the school, making them feel the education of love.

Responsible personnel from logistics department of the school said that the school made quick arrangements to assemble the furniture during their off hours as soon as the furniture arrived so as to enable them to be used by the students. The school also broadcasted the benevolent help from the OUC through the campus radio and taught students to be grateful and study even harder to repay such love and support.
