Zhu Guiquan joined the army in November 1987 and the Communist Party of China in October 1994, and began serving as the main engine technician in the electromechanical department of a naval ship in January 1995.

From 27-28 June 2019, a meeting of the Open University of China (OUC) Academic Degree Evaluation Committee was held in Beijing to review bachelor’s degrees to be granted in the 2019 spring semester. The meeting decided to award 2,406 graduates with OUC bachelor’s degrees, including Zhao Yu.
