LI Liancheng, a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), joined the Ministry of Education’s “One College Student Per Village” programme and studied Rural Administration at the Rural Revitalisation College of Henan Branch of the Open University of China from March 2008 to June 2010. He has been elected as a delegate to the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th National Congresses of the CPC, as well as a deputy to the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th National People’s Congress (NPC). He has been honoured with the title of “National Outstanding CPC Member”, “National Model Worker”, and has received the “National Moral Role Model Nomination Award”.

A roundtable discussion focusing on the opportunities and challenges brought by DeepSeek for open education was hosted by Department of Student Affairs and Teacher Development at the Open University of China (OUC). Six experienced AI experts and educators shared their views on “New Possibilities for Open Education Empowered by DeepSeek”, sparking dynamic discussions about AI’s role in reshaping the futures of education. This event was broadcast live to the Open University faculty nationwide, attracting 3,021 live viewers and 279 replay viewers.

WANG Jing, is a native of Mianxian County, Shaanxi Province. She currently serves as President of Hanzhong Open University (OU). In addition, she holds multiple national and provincial roles as deputy to the 14th National People’s Congress, member of the Hanzhong Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Vice Chairperson of Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD), and member of the Education Committee under CAPD’s 15th Central Committee.

ZHOU Changyou, a member of the Communist Party of China, serves as a deputy to the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC). He holds positions as both Party Branch Secretary and Director of the Maiziyuan Villagers’ Committee, Niujiaoba Town, Lengshuitan District, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province. Enrolled in 2016, he was a graduate of Law from Hunan Open University. ZHOU was honoured as “National Outstanding Migrant Worker” in August 2020. Under his leadership, the Maiziyuan Village Party Branch received the “National Outstanding Collective in Poverty Alleviation” award in February 2020.

LI Suhuan, a member of the Communist Party of China, serves as a deputy to the 13th and 14th National People’s Congress (NPC). She is a graduate of the Business Administration (Township Enterprise Management) at Hebei Open University. In 2015, she was recognised as a member of the All-China Youth Federation. In 2020, she was elected as a “National Model Worker”. In 2021, she was honoured with the title of “National Role Model of Women’s Meritorious Service”.

ZHOU Chong, a deputy to the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), is an outstanding junior college graduate enrolled in the autumn of 2015, majoring in Mechanical Manufacturing at Guangzhou Open University. Currently, he serves as the Deputy Manager of the Safety and Environmental Protection Department at Huangpu Stevedoring Branch Company and the Deputy Secretary of the company’s Youth League Committee. He is also the Vice Chairman of the 13th Guangzhou Youth Federation. ZHOU has been honoured with titles such as “Good Samaritan of China” and “Nominee for the National Moral Model Award” for his goodness. He was received by the Chinese President in 2013 and 2018 respectively.

The Third Session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the Third Session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) commenced respectively in Beijing on 4th and 5th March 2025. President XI Jinping and other Party and state leaders attended the sessions, where NPC deputies and CPPCC members deliberated on national affairs, charted the course for development, and envisioned the grand prospects of Chinese modernisation. Faculty members of the Open University of China (OUC) actively followed the proceedings, engaged in in-depth study and thinking.

WANG Hongmei, from Henan Province, serves as a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress (NPC). Currently, she holds the position of a senior technician at Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) and is pursuing her undergraduate studies in Administrative Management at Ningde Open University since the autumn semester of 2021.
