From December 18th to 19th, 2014, the first working conference of the Committee of Standards for Instruction (CSI) of the Open University of China (OUC) kicked off in Zhuhai. A total of 35 people, including Li Linshu, the OUC Vice President, Vice Director of the Committee on Quality Assurance (CQA) as well as Director of CSI, Fang Jianzhuang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Member of CQA of Guangdong Open University, as well as members of the CSI, invited specialists, and leaders from Zhuhai RTVU attended the conference.
On December 7-8, 2014, the 9th Confucius Institute Conference was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province. With the theme “Towards a New Decade of Confucius Institute”, a total of over people attended this year’s conference, including directors of Confucius Institutes and presidents of the host universities from 126 countries and regions around the globe,
From November 27-28, 2014, China International Distance Education Conference 2014 was held in Beijing. With the theme of “Science and Technology Leads Future Learning, Strategic Choices in the Age of Changing Education”, the Conference focused on the development of information technology, scientific and technological achievements in related fields, and “MOOC”, and discussed their impact on traditional education fields in China and how Chinese education should respond to the challenge.
On November 26, member of the National Advisory Committee on Education (NACE) and leader of the Lifelong Education System and Mechanism (LESM) Construction Team Hao Keming, along with other experts from the Committee, inspected the Wukesong campus of the Open University of China (OUC).
On November 4, 2014, the national opening ceremony of the Activity Week of Lifelong Learning for All, co-hosted by the Department of Vocational and Adult Education of the Ministry of Education (MOE), the China National Commission for UNESCO, and the China Adult Education Association, was held in Yuzhong District of Chongqing.
At the 2014 Annual Nationwide Reading Meeting held at Hunan Library from November 11-13, the thesis “A Practical Exploration of Reading Promotion Activities for Rural Adolescents” submitted by Zhang Hongli from the library of The Open University of China (OUC) stood out from 402 theses sent by 361 libraries and 14 publishing houses and bookstores nationally and won the first prize.
On November 26th, 2013, the Open University of China (OUC) held a seminar to mark the opening of several industry pilot schools in Beijing (Industry Schools). Schools focused on ten different industries were formally established: coal, social work, logistics, textiles, mechanical industries, automobile repair, casting, information security, circular economy, and software.
The Ninth Staff Sports Meeting of the Ministry of Education (MOE), a biennial sports event, was held on April 29 in the Beijing Olympic Sports Centre. The OUC continued to achieve good results, including placing third in total team score, as well as taking home the Best Organization award and the Advanced Propaganda Work award.
