On the morning of May 6, Youth League Committee of Departments directly under the Ministry of Education (MOE) convened to pass on, learn, and implement the spirit of the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping on May Fourth. On April 22, a video conference of the Open University of China (OUC) national reading initiative summary and the kickoff of Tao Fen Foundation Donation Project (pilot unit), co-sponsored by the Library Society of China and the OUC, was held at the OUC headquarters in Beijing.
On May 8 the 7th three-day National Chinese Learning Conference (NCLC) was held in Los Angeles, U.S. More than 1,200 delegates, including education officials, school principals, Chinese education specialists, and teachers from across the U.S. and other countries, as well as participants from relevant education and teaching institutions, attended the conference. Distance Chinese teaching became one of the highlights of the conference.
On April 10th of 2014, CCRTVU Press Co. Ltd. and the Training Centre of the Open University of China (OUC) signed an agreement to jointly invest in the establishment of the OUC Online Education Technology Co., Ltd..
The OUC Online Education Technology Co., Ltd. was created to provide such services as technical support, market expansion, and business operation for the non-degree continuing education and training services of OUC by utilizing information technology and linking with the credit bank system,
On March 6, the Experimental School of Binhai New District of the Open University of China (the OUC) was founded at Tianjin Radio and TV University (RTVU). Yang Zhijian, the President of the OUC, and Feng Xuefei, the President of Tianjin RTVU, signed the agreement between the two universities to co-sponsor the OUC Experimental School of Binhai New District.
After several rounds of narrowing down the field, through such means as online voting and expert selection, the “OUC's Top Ten News Stories of 2013”, hosted by the Open University of China (OUC) and China.org.cn, and organized by the OUC Channel of China, were announced a few days ago.

On March 25th, 2014, the annual academic meeting of Chinese Society of Educational Development Strategy (CSEDS) was held in Beijing. Its purpose was the study and implementation of the ideals of the Third Plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, as well as to serve as an academic review of 2013's major research advancements.
