In May 2015, the Ministry of Education's 12th "Five-Year" vocational education national planned teaching materials book list was officially announced. Twenty-nine teaching books (covering four majors) declared by China Central Radio and TV University (CCRTVU, now the Open University of China, OUC) Press were selected for inclusion in the book list.
The Opening Ceremony of the 4th China International Senior Services Expo & the 4th Forum of the Development of Chinese Senior Service Industry has just wrapped up. At the Expo, the exhibition on education for older adults attracted a lot of attention from seniors and the media, becoming a hot spot of the Expo. The senior service column at Xinhuanet held an exclusive interview with President of the Open University of China (OUC) Yang Zhijian to get to know the current status of the education industry for older adults.
The OUC School of Vocational Education and Training has been named “An Excellent Case for Innovation” by units under Ministry of Education for its project “The Establishment of a New Model for Vocational Education and Training, Integrating Production and Teaching According to the Needs of Enterprises”. The main content of the project is the “dual-certificate education”(vocational qualification and academic diploma) of staff from Foxconn Technology Group.
May 16, 2015 witnessed the successful completion of HSK and HSKK tests at the OUC HSK Test Centre sponsored by the Chinese Language Centre, the Open University of China. In addition, a total of eight levels were opened in May, including the levels of HSK 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and HSKK elementary, intermediate, and advanced, located in ten separate examination rooms. 161 test-takers from the OUC and other universities in Beijing took the examination, among which 78 persons sat for the HSKK test.
May 16, 2015 witnessed a cooperative forum held at the Wukesong campus of the Open University of China (OUC) between the OUC Painting & Calligraphy Art Education Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the “Institute”) and Yunbaozhai – a renowned collection of the four Chinese study treasures (brush, ink, ink tablet and paper) from Anhui province, which showed that the Institute was taking the first steps in providing a service function.
From May 7th to 8th, 2015, the Open University of China (OUC) convened a seminar on aged education in Beijing. A total of 72 representatives, including the OUC’s President Mr.Yang Zhijian, Vice Presidents Mr. Zhang Shaogang and Mr. Liu Chen, university leaders and relevant department directors in charge of non-degree education and aged education from 41 branches attended the seminar. The seminar was hosted by Mr. Liu Chen.
On the morning of May 6th, 2015, the Opening Ceremony of the 4th China International Senior Services Expo & the 4th Forum on the Development of Chinese Senior Service Industry was held at China National Convention Center (CNCC) in Beijing. The sponsor, China Association of Social Welfare (CASW), invited the Open University of China (OUC) to participate in the Expo, and jointly organized the "Education and Services for Older Adults Staff Building Forum".
On April 10th, 2015, 100 computers donated by the Open University of China (OUC) arrived at Mangxin Town, Yingjisha County, where the resident village officers of Xinjiang RTVU work. This donation is part of the OUC’s extension counterpart support for Xinjiang RTVU.
