On 14 October 2021, on the occasion of the Double Ninth Festival, the Open University of China (OUC) held a ceremony in Beijing for the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement with the China Broadcasting Network Group Corporation Ltd.(CBN).

In the finals of the 7th China International Internet Plus College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, held at Nanchang University from 12 to 15 October 2021, the Open University of China (OUC) won five gold medals and eight silver in the Vocational Education category.

On 26 October 2021, the Open University of China (OUC) and Beijing National Accounting Institute (BNAI) held a ceremony to sign a strategic-cooperation agreement in areas such as graduate education, non-degree training, teacher development, development and sharing of teaching resources, and research.

On 23 December, the Meeting of the Open University of China (OUC) to Advance Reform and Development in 2021 was convened in Beijing. The purpose of the meeting was to study and implement the guiding principles of the fifth and sixth Plenary Sessions of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), to investigate and deploy key tasks for 2022, and to accelerate the construction of world-class open universities with Chinese characteristics for high-quality development.

The Cyberspace Administration of China recently released a list of selections to the “National Blockchain Innovative Application Pilot Programme” in education, with the Open University of China (OUC) selected in the area of  “blockchain + education”. A total of 14 projects are included from 14 institutions, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, and the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

A meeting to commend outstanding members of the Communist Party of China (CPC), outstanding Party affairs workers, and advanced Party organisations at the grassroots levels of China’s central and state organs was held in Beijing on 24 June 2021.

Beijing, 15 January 2020 (Xinhua News Agency) - Sun Chunlan, a member of the Standing Committee of the 19th CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and Vice Premier of the State Council, underlined during her survey of the Open University of China (OUC) on 15 January that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on vocational education should be further implemented and that the decisions and deployment of the Party Central Committee and the State Council to deepen vocational education reform, to optimise the structure of highly skilled professionals, and to offer support for high quality economic and social development should be earnestly put in place.

On the afternoon of 17 December 2020, a delegation made up of Weng Tiehui, member of the Party leadership group and vice minister of the Ministry of Education (MOE); Deng Chuanhuai, director of the MOE Department of Policies and Regulations; Cui Baoshi, president of the National Institute of Educational Sciences (NIES); and Xie Li, deputy director of the MOE Department of Vocational and Adult Education, visited the Open University of China (OUC) to investigate its work in lifelong education and attend the North China Symposium on "Building an Education System Serving Lifelong Learning for All".
