On 26 October 2021, the Open University of China (OUC) and Beijing National Accounting Institute (BNAI) held a ceremony to sign a strategic-cooperation agreement in areas such as graduate education, non-degree training, teacher development, development and sharing of teaching resources, and research.
Qin Rongsheng, dean of the BNAI, and Jing Degang, secretary of the OUC Party Committee and OUC president, signed the agreement on behalf of the two sides.
Jing Degang introduced the OUC’s history of operations, orientation, and systemic advantages, pointing out that it is currently implementing strategies designed to create excellence, enhance the quality of degree education, develop external education and training, and strengthen the University for Older Adults in accordance with the requirements of its Comprehensive Reform Plan as well as building “four major platforms” through “four transformations” in order to become an importance force serving lifelong learning for all and a strong support for a technical society. The agreement aligns with the work of the OUC to provide multiple forms of graduate education, in this case using the BNAI’s operational advantages in areas of Accounting, Auditing, and Finance to gather experience and energy for the development of the OUC’s graduate education.
Qin Rongsheng gave a brief introduction to the BNAI and its experience in graduate education. He said that its founding was promoted by former premier Zhu Rongji, and that it has built a nationwide distance-education system through the construction of a think tank in finance and economics, the implementation of high-end training in these areas, and high-quality graduate education. As a result, numerous students have graduated from it with advanced training in accounting, auditing, taxation and finance. This agreement will allow it to cooperate with the OUC in terms of sharing faculty, compiling and reviewing materials, undertaking research, and other activities. Qin also noted that he would spare no efforts to support collaborative projects, and the next steps of implementation.
The agreement shows that the sides have the same vision of the advantages to be gained from sharing resources and other forms of reciprocity that will help enhance the future development of each and allow them to shoulder greater social responsibilities and jointly propel the enhancement of overall quality and skill level for professionals .
Present at the ceremony was also Li Song, OUC vice president and member of its Party Committee, along with personnel from the Experimental School, the Faculty of Economics and Management, the Academic Affairs Department, and the General Office of Party and Administration. The BNAI was represented by personnel from its Faculty of Graduate Studies and Teaching and Research Centre.
