Xi’an Branch of OUC Huaqiao College Unveiled to Build a New Model of "Internet + Chinese Language Learning"
The inauguration ceremony of Xian Branch of the Huaqiao College of the Open University of China (OUC) and the opening ceremony for an offline training class in Chinese culture with Han and Tang dynasty characteristics was held in Xi'an on the morning of 24 November 2018. Supported by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the OUC’s Huaqiao College is open to the public at home and abroad, including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. It implements online and offline integrated non-degree training and degree education on the basis of the Modern Distance Open Education and the Internet + Chinese Language Learning model.
Achievements of the OUC Long March Belt Educational Project Targeted at Alleviating Poverty
From 5-9 November 2018, a press corps organised by the Open University of China (OUC) visited Sichuan for an in-depth investigation of the implementation and progress of the Long March Belt Educational Project Targeted at Alleviating Poverty project. The press corps included Xinhua News Agency, Guangming Daily, Farmers’ Daily, China Education Daily, China Education Television, China Net (china.com.cn, china.org.cn), and other media. Over the course of five days, the press corps flitted from Rangtang County of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture to Cangxi County of Guangyuan City in Sichuan Province. They saw examples of educational projects targeted at alleviating poverty, learnt about the initial achievements of the Long March Belt Educational Project Targeted at Alleviating Poverty, and witnessed the OUC’s efforts to develop education in ethnic minority and poverty-stricken areas.
OUC Summarises 2018 Teaching Evaluations
On 4 December 2018, the Open University of China (OUC) held a meeting related to the 2018 teaching evaluations. Following the guidance of the document “Teaching Evaluations 2018” (Guo Kai Ping Gu [2018] No. 8), the OUC organised six groups of experts to conduct evaluations at 12 branches and schools with reference to their management needs and self-assessments.
Second Plenary Session of the Second OUC Academic Committee Convenes in Beijing
The second plenary session of the Second Academic Committee of the Open University of China (OUC) and the meeting of the sub-committees of various disciplines was held in Beijing from 29 November to 1 December 2018. The first eight research centres of the OUC were granted with plaques at the meeting.
OUC Credit Bank Introduces Third-Party Certification, Becomes First Training Institution to Successfully Meet Standards
From 11-12 December 2018, entrusted by the Credit Bank of the Open University of China (OUC), National Standard Integration (Beijing) Certification Co., Ltd. (NSC) conducted an on-site review of Beijing Bohaidi Information Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred as Tech-Lab) of its certification for educational training service. Tech-Lab is the first educational training institution to get service certification, to apply to join the Learning Outcomes Mutual Recognition Alliance, and to become the OUC Credit Bank’s training partner in line with the Educational Services Standard Certification of Training institutions. After two days of on-site examination, Tech-Lab successfully met the standards and received a certificate for education services from the OUC Credit Bank.
OUC Engineering Research Centre for Technology Integration and Application of E-Learning, Ministry of Education (Engineering Research Centre) Passes Acceptance Inspection
On 16 December 2018, the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Education (MOE) entrusted the Open University of China (OUC) to organise experts to check and accept the construction project of the MOE’s Engineering Research Centre for Technology Integration and the Application of E-Learning (Engineering Research Centre). After questioning and discussions, the acceptance expert group agreed that the OUC has completed the construction of the Engineering Research Centre, and unanimously agreed that the project has passed acceptance inspection.
Seminar on OUC Online Teaching and Teaching Team Construction: Advance Teaching Team Construction and Comprehensively Intensify Education and Teaching Reform
From 18-19 December 2018, a seminar on OUC online teaching and teaching team construction was held in Hefei. The theme was intensifying teaching reform, advancing teaching team construction, implementing the teaching process, and improving teaching quality.
OUC Receives First Prize in the National Teaching Achievement Awards for the First Time
According to the Notice on the Decision of the Ministry of Education on Approving the 2018 Award-Winning Projects of the National Teaching Achievement Awards (Jiao Shi [2018] No. 21) recently issued by the Ministry of Education (MOE), the project “The Systematic Construction of a National Credit Bank System for Vocational Education” led by vice president Li Linshu of the Open University of China (OUC) won first prize at the National Teaching Achievement Awards for Vocational Education, a historical breakthrough for the OUC.
