The development of non-degree continuing education is an important part of the Open University of China’s (OUC) mission to serve learning for all and to promote the construction of a learning society.
The 32nd Annual Conference of the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) was held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 24-26 October 2018. A delegation of six people led by Open University of China (OUC) vice president Lin Yu attended the conference.
On 2-3 November 2018, the Scientific Research Conference for Radio and TV Universities in Shandong Province was held in Jinan. The conference summed up the scientific research that has been conducted in RTVUs throughout Shandong over the past few years and established and assigned tasks for the future. The leading role of scientific work has thus been brought into play to accelerate the construction of first-class open universities.
Double Ninth Festival is a traditional Chinese festival that takes place in autumn. In order to highlight the traditional Chinese virtue of respecting and loving older people, Qingdao Radio and TV University (Qingdao RTVU), together with volunteers from the Culture and Radio New Bureau Community in northern Qingdao, Yiwanbishui Science Development Co. Ltd., and Haiyun Art School, visited Fushan Apartment for the Elderly. They celebrated the festival with the older people, blessing them with kinds of cultural activities.
On 22 October 2018, Fujian Radio and TV University (Fuzhou RTVU) and Yum China (Fuzhou) (Yum China is a leading restaurant company managing several famous brands such as KFC, Pizza Hut, and Little Sheep) held a signing ceremony on learner development cooperation and the opening ceremony for the first Yum China open education class.
In order to fully implement and learn from Xi Jinping’s thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era and the spirit of 19th National Congress of CPC, push the flourishing of the choral arts in Guangzhou, and spread positive social power, Guangzhou Xinghai (International) Chorus Festival • Talents Gala took place in Guangdong Performing Arts Centre on 18 October 2018.
On 25 October 2018, an opening ceremony for the 2018 National Lifelong Learning Week was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province.
In 2018, based on the requirements of the Notice of the Implementation of Comprehensive Teaching Inspections, an inspection team for the Experimental School of the Open University of China (OUC) was set up to conduct and implement 2018 teaching inspection work at three local experimental schools. From 10-18 October, 2018, onsite teaching inspections were made at the OUC Nanhai Experimental School, Taiyuan Experimental School, and Beike Learning Centre.
