There were 18,000 volunteers for the Olympics and more than 200,000 volunteers providing services within the city for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Games.

The latter played an important part in the work for these Games, as they have for similar events in the past. Zhou Wen, a teacher at the Open University of China (OUC) and graduate of Beijing Sport University (2012), was one of the volunteers. He said, “My former students are competing for medals, and I am here to serve and spread the Olympic spirit outside the competition.”

His location was crowded with tourists and residents, to whom he distributed brochures and explained the futuristic technology of the Games, such as the 8K live broadcast, domestic snowmobiles, IT-based high-speed rail, and the ice-making with direct cooling technology using carbon dioxide.

As the athletes competed for their country, the volunteers outside  worked hard to support them.
