Changsha, 8-10 December 2025 - To strengthen alumni engagement and foster mutual growth between alumni and the university, the Open University of China (OUC) organised an alumni work seminar. XU Mingjun, Deputy Secretary of CPC OUC Committee, and OU Jun, Vice President and Deputy Secretary of CPC Hunan Open University Committee, attended the event. Around 100 participants, including university leaders and relevant department heads from 39 OUC branches and OUC headquarters, joined the discussion. The event was chaired by ZHENG Jie, Director of OUC’s Alumni Liaison Office.

XU Mingjun emphasised the special importance of alumni work in uniting OUC system, improving talent cultivation quality, and serving the establishment of a learning society. He proposed five priorities for future alumni work: deepening consensus across the system, strengthening collaboration, responding to alumni needs, exploring cooperation opportunities, and fostering a strong alumni culture.

YUAN Guohong, an outstanding OUC alumnus and head of the Zhangjiajie Xiaobeilou Ecological Farming and Breeding Cooperative in Hunan, shared his OUC learning experience and the work and achievements of the Hunan alumni group.

ZHENG Jie presented an overview of OUC’s progress in alumni work, its service system development, and future plans. Representatives from five branches, including Hunan, Zhejiang, Fujian, Sichuan, and Gansu shared their practical experiences and best practices in alumni work.

Participants engaged in discussions on topics such as building and innovating alumni work system, managing alumni information and developing service platform, resource development and value creation, as well as alumni service and emotional engagement. They offered many suggestions on what the university can provide for alumni and how to improve alumni services and system collaboration.

The seminar was rich in content and marked by in-depth exchanges, laying a solid foundation for the systematic advancement and high-quality development of alumni work within the OUC system. Moving forward, the university will deepen mechanism reforms on alumni work, enhance services, and promote mutual growth between alumni and the university, thereby making greater contributions to the establishment of a learning society and lifelong education.
