Wuhan 19-21 April 2026 - The Open University of China (OUC) convened a seminar in Wuhan on the development of the Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL) programme and the enhancement of its Open Learning Centres. Madam FAN Xianrui, Vice President of OUC, and JIANG Xingpeng, Party Secretary of Wuhan Open University, attended the event, together with Prof. WANG Chunhui from Capital Normal University, Prof. ZHENG Yanqun from Beijing Language and Culture University, and Prof. CAO Xianwen from Nanjing University, along with university leaders from branches in Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi and Yunnan, teachers from the TCSOL programme within the OUC education system, and project leaders of Open Learning Centres.
Beijing 19 April 2026 - The Radio Gymnastics and Tai Chi competitions of the 14th Staff Sports Games of the Ministry of Education kicked off. The Open University of China (OUC) team delivered an outstanding performance, winning first prize in both events. XU Mingjun, OUC Vice President, was present to cheer on the athletes.
Beijing 16 April 2026 - The Open University of China’s (OUC) held orientation for Artificial Intelligence (AI) programme and learning project for the spring semester of 2026 was held at the Wukesong Campus. CAI Zhen, OUC Vice President, and GAO Xiaopeng, Head of the AI programme and Professor at Beihang University, attended the event. Student representatives, teacher representatives and staff from university relevant departments participated in person, while over 150 new students joined online.
Shanghai, 13 April 2026 - The Signing Ceremony for the strategic cooperation agreement between the Open University of China (OUC) and Shanghai Normal University was held at Shanghai Normal University (SHNU). OUC President Dr. WANG Qiming and Vice President LI Song; SHNU President Dr. CHEN Heng, and Dr. YUAN Wen, former President of SHNU and Dean of its Research Institute for Lifelong Learning and Sustainable Development; Dr. MIN Hui, Party Secretary of Shanghai Ocean University; JIA Wei, President of Shanghai Open University; YAN Pengtao, Director of the Lifelong Education Division of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission; and heads of relevant departments attended the event. The Signing Ceremony was chaired by SHNU Vice President Dr. YANG Haiyan.
The Parallel Session of the World Digital Education Conference 2026, themed “Digital Intelligence Empowerment for a Ubiquitous and Accessible Lifelong Education System,” is organized by the Open University of China and supported by Zhejiang Open University, and will convene on the afternoon of May 12. Approximately 150 participants from China and abroad are expected to attend.
Beijing, 7 April 2026 - To advance comprehensive reforms in open education, the Open University of China (OUC) held a seminar to push forward the open education “101 Plan”. OUC President Dr. WANG Qiming attended the meeting. All members of the university leadership, deans of academic schools, and heads of relevant functional departments were present. The meeting was chaired by OUC Vice President Dr. LI Song.
Recently, the Lifelong Learning Centre of the Smart Education of China Platform was officially launched. It features three major sections, six functional zones, five columns, and five dedicated zones to meet the increasingly diverse needs of social education.
Recently, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission announced the selection results for the 2025 Beijing Higher Education Undergraduate Teaching Programme. Six projects from the Open University of China (OUC) were selected, including "Rural Development Theory and Practice," "Steel Structures," "Floriculture," among others.
