Beijing, 26 November 2025 - The 24th China Conference on Distance Education was held in Beijing under the theme "Igniting Intelligence for a New Journey, Reshaping Ecosystems, and Empowering the Future." Officials from the Ministry of Education, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, and other departments, along with university scholars and business representatives, attended the Conference.

Dr. WANG Qiming, President of the Open University of China (OUC), delivered a speech. He stated that OUC utilises digital intelligence to advance the accessibility of lifelong education, and has established a nationwide lifelong education network through its "four platforms and one support" model, reaching every corner of urban and rural China. The university has launched the Smart Education of China ∙ Lifelong Education Platform, offering over 130 million learners personalised, intelligent, and convenient online learning support services. Moving forward, OUC will continue to build on digital infrastructure, explore new paradigms, foster new ecosystems, and develop new systems. Its goal is to empower lifelong education through digital intelligence to serve the construction of a society and country of learning, and make significant contributions to building China into a leading country in education.

On 27 November, four parallel sessions were held, focusing on typical case exchanges for learning-society construction, the role of open universities in supporting the development of a learning society, innovative development of industry worker training, and AI-empowered new educational paradigms in higher education.

The Conference, under the guidance of the China Association of Higher Education, the Chinese Society of Education, the China Adult Education Association, the China Association for Educational Technology, and OUC, was organised by the Chinese Journal of Distance Education. Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. co-sponsored the event, with support from Centre for Vocational Education Development of the Ministry of Education. Nearly 600 guests from higher education institutions, vocational schools, and industries attended.
