To achieve the sharing of academic visit experience and expand the scope of beneficiaries in academic exchanges, the College of International Education at the Open University of China (OUC) held the 2024 Report Meeting of the OUC Academic Delegations on 24 October 2024.

Five visiting scholars from the Sino-British Fellowship Project and seven academic delegations for temporary official overseas visits shared their reports and engaged in exchanges.

Liu Haiying, deputy dean of the College of International Education, emphasised that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, attaches great importance to the educational opening up and has given instructions on multiple occasions at important national meetings. As a vital platform for the OUC’s international exchanges and cooperation, the College of International Education is committed to broadening international academic exchanges and exploring new avenues for international educational cooperation. By selecting outstanding backbone faculty members for academic exchanges at renowned universities in the UK and sending "academic delegations for temporary official overseas visits" to participate in significant international academic conferences, the College aims to strengthen academic exchanges and cooperation between the OUC and high-level international institutions, broaden the research horizons of faculty and staff, and promote high-quality development of academic disciplines. In the future, the College will actively create conditions and build diverse platforms to provide more opportunities for faculty and staff to engage in overseas exchanges, academic visits, and collaborative research.

Twelve faculty members, including Jiang Yilu, Niu A’na, Yuan Jing, Liu Xi, Lyu Le, Liu Shu, Wang Xiangxu, Zhang Chaonan, Fan Rongrong, Zhang Huirui, Xu Xiaoxiao, and Cui Naipeng, made summaries and reports regarding academic visits, conference participation, academic achievements, learning insights, and future plans. They unanimously agreed that the academic visit experience was a valuable journey of growth, enhancing their understanding of the forefront of disciplinary development, the diversity of education and teaching, the importance of international cooperation, and the potential for personal growth. In the future, they plan to apply their acquired knowledge and insights to their daily teaching and research work, contributing to the high-quality and innovative development of open education and accelerating the development of a world-class open university.
