On 10 October, 2024, a delegation led by Chen Yingying, executive vice president of the Party School, director of the Industry-Education Integration Development Centre, and secretary-general of the Baosteel Education Foundation of China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited, visited the Open University of China (OUC).

This exchange aims to deepen cooperation and explore opportunities in building overseas learning centres and distance education, and jointly seek new paths for educational innovation. Fan Xianrui, a member of the Party Committee and vice president of the OUC, attended the exchange meeting, which was presided over by Sun Hongfei, dean of the Experimental College of the OUC.

On behalf of the OUC, Fan Xianrui warmly welcomed the delegation from Baowu Steel Group and introduced the OUC's achievements and unique features in open education, lifelong learning, and international layout.

Chen Yingying provided a detailed overview of the history, strategic planning, and overseas projects of China Baowu Steel Group. She expressed a strong desire to engage in in-depth cooperation with the OUC in vocational education, skills training, and running schools overseas.

Both parties agreed to leverage their respective strengths, optimise the allocation and sharing mechanisms of educational resources, and jointly explore new models of industry-education integration. They aimed to contribute to cultivating more high-quality talent with international perspectives and innovative capabilities, thereby creating a new pattern for win-win cooperation.

During the exchange session, Sun Hongfei, dean of the Experimental College, Wang Xiangxu, vice dean of the College of International Education, and Yuan Yaxing, chairman of OUC Online, respectively shared insights on topics such as Experimental College's model and advantages of whole network education programme, experiences in school operation oriented towards internationalisation, and innovative practices in educational digitalisation. The two parties also engaged in in-depth discussions on strengthening the sharing of educational resources and promoting the internationalisation of education.

This meeting not only deepened mutual understanding between the two sides, but also laid a solid foundation for their in-depth collaboration in the field of education. Moving forward, the OUC and China Baowu Steel Group will work hand in hand to write a new chapter in educational cooperation.
