Recently, the first "Education Digital Human Competition," sponsored by the China Association for Educational Technology (CAET), was held at Beijing Technology and Business University.
With the theme of "Collaborative Creation and Transformation, Intelligent-Connected Education, and Shaping the Future," this competition aimed at better implementing the national strategy for education digitalisation strategic action and promoting the implementation of AI-empowered educational innovative applications such as using intelligence to assist learning, teaching, and management. The three intelligent agents submitted by the Open University of China (OUC) achieved excellent results in the "Intelligent Learning Assistance" track. Among them, "Smart Learning Companion Baize on the Lifelong Education Platform" and "i-Media Tutor" won second prizes, while the " Intelligent Learning Companion for Patriotic Education Based on Knowledge Graph" won a third prize.
The "Smart Learning Companion Baize on the Lifelong Education Platform" is an interactive intelligent learning assistant provided for the general public. It relies on domestically developed large language models, combined with the university's rich learning resource library and professional domain knowledge base, to achieve functions such as knowledge Q&A, course summary generation, course recommendations, and knowledge point summaries through interactive Q&A, further enhancing learners' learning efficiency and enthusiasm.
The "i-Media Tutor" is a multimodal interactive intelligent agent tailored for the Smart Education of China · Higher Education platform and the OUC's "Media-Assisted English Language Learning" programme. It breaks through the limitations of traditional teaching methods, providing round-the-clock, multimodal, highly interactive academic support, technical support, and emotional support.
The " Intelligent Learning Companion for Patriotic Education Based on Knowledge Graph" is a specific application based on the AIGC professional knowledge base system, using revolutionary historical events as the storyline background and adopting a cinematic narrative approach. Through comprehensive and immersive scene design involving visual and auditory elements, it allows learners to immerse themselves in a century-long historical journey, creating a new immersive and interactive personalised ideological and political education experience.
In the future, the OUC will continue to explore the deep integration of generative AI technology with education and teaching, bringing more intelligent, convenient, and personalised learning experiences to a wide range of learners. This will also provide strong support for building a society and country of learning where lifelong learning is pursued by all!
