Recently, the National Publication Foundation Planning and Management Office announced the 2023 performance evaluation results for projects funded by the National Publication Foundation.
Among the 646 completed projects, the publication Building Safety Together – Public Crises and Emergency Management, developed under the "Lectures by Famous Teachers" initiative by the Open University of China (OUC), was recognised for its outstanding performance and received a commendation. This evaluation, organised by the National Publication Foundation Planning and Management Office, assessed projects based on publication quality, social impact, and project management. Only 57 projects nationwide were honoured with this distinction.
Building Safety Together – Public Crises and Emergency Management is a public welfare project jointly conceived by the Learning Resources Department and the School of Political Science and Law at the OUC, the Multimedia Press under the OUC Publishing and Media Group, and the Centre for Crisis Management Research at Tsinghua University. The project focuses on "Social Risk Governance and Public Crisis Education," aiming to deliver crisis education to the public, enhance public awareness of crisis prevention, and improve their crisis response capabilities. By leveraging scientific analysis from renowned experts, the project provides targeted and practical insights into holistic, strategic, and forward-looking major crisis issues, contributing to the modernisation of public crisis management in China.
The OUC remains steadfast in its commitment to the principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, particularly the strategy of invigorating the country through science and education, and strengthening the talent support for modernisation construction. The university is dedicated to developing high-quality courses and resources across various disciplines to foster innovative talent and enhance scientific literacy of the general public.
