Recently, a donation ceremony was held at the Education Bureau of Jishishan County to commemorate the contribution from the Education Foundation of the Open University of China (OUC) to the Jishishan School, part of the Linxia Open University under the Gansu Branch of the OUC.

Attending the event were Ju Chuanjin, chairman of the OUC Education Foundation, Zheng Jie, its secretary-general, Hu Yang, director of the Department of External Education and Training at the OUC, and Zhu Yuchang, deputy county executive of Jishishan County. The ceremony was hosted by Ren Guiyuan, dean of the Jishishan School, Linxia Open University. Representatives from the OUC, Gansu Open University, and Linxia Open University also participated.

Ju Chuanjin emphasised that following the Jishishan earthquake, the OUC Education Foundation promptly contacted the Gansu Open University to assess the impact on open educational premises, facilities and personnel. The donation was agreed upon and implemented to meet the specific needs of the Jishishan School's post-earthquake recovery efforts. He expressed hope for a collaborative effort with the people of Jishishan County to contribute to the region's reconstruction and development.

During the event, Ju Chuanjin handed over a donation check for 500,000 yuan to Zhu Yuchang, and Zheng Jie signed the donation agreement with Ren Guiyuan. The funds will be dedicated to repairing damaged school buildings and providing relief to affected teachers and students.

Zhu Yuchang expressed profound gratitude, noting that the donation not only bolstered the county's educational sector but also conveyed deep concern for the affected community. He assured that the people of Jishishan County would rebuild their homes with resilience and courage, inspired by societal support.

Ren Guiyuan expressed his appreciation to the OUC headquarters and the Education Foundation for their sustained attention and support to the Jishishan School. He remarked that the donation had instilled a sense of warmth and strength among the faculty and students, motivating them to study and work diligently to repay the society. Ren Guiyuan also presented a banner to the OUC Education Foundation in gratitude for their generous act.
