In an effort to expedite the construction of a strong educational sector and actively respond to the spirit of the "Opinions on Deepening the Reform of Graduate Education" jointly issued by the Ministry of Education, National Development and Reform Commission, and Ministry of Finance, a delegation from the Open University of China (OUC), led by Liu Xuanxuan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, visited Capital Normal University (CNU) on 31 May 2024, to conduct research and engage in in-depth discussions regarding the collaborative master's degree programme.
The symposium was attended by Hu Jie, secretary of the Party Committee of the CNU College of Preschool Education; Meng Fande, vice dean of the Graduate School; Lin Yongsheng, deputy director of the Office of External Cooperation; Xue Haiping, vice dean of the College of Education; Chen Wenxin, vice dean of the College of Teacher Education; He Jijun, vice dean of the College of Primary Education; Wang Yifang, head of the Affiliated Kindergarten and vice dean of the College of Preschool Education; and Wang Yahui, vice dean of the Institute of Chinese Calligraphy Culture. Zheng Ping, deputy director of the CNU General Administration Office, chaired the research symposium.
During the symposium, Liu Xuanxuan outlined the unique characteristics, historical achievements, and the progress made by the Seniors University of China (SUC) since its establishment a year ago. She pointed out that in response to the national strategy of addressing population ageing and accelerating the construction of a leading country in education, both parties should fully leverage their respective strengths to create conditions and conveniences for comprehensive, multi-level, and wide-ranging exchanges and cooperation in master's degree programmes. This is aimed at jointly promoting the implementation of the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, innovating in elderly education, and advancing the establishment of a learning-oriented society and a lifelong education system.
Representatives from the OUC, including Zhang Feng, vice dean of the School of Education; Niu Tao, assistant dean of the School of Art; Liu Xiaonan, vice dean of the Seniors College of the SUC; and Lin Xiuqin, deputy director of the Academic Affairs Department, presented the work of their respective departments and the university's efforts in talent cultivation and teacher development. The attendees engaged in active discussions with various CNU colleges on the disciplines, methods, and cooperation mechanisms of the joint graduate programme, and preliminary intentions for cooperation were established.
