Hu Xing, as the executive vice chairperson of the Labour Union of the Open University of China (OUC), has taken it upon herself to the tenet of "uniting the hearts of employees and guiding them towards progress" since her appointment.

She is committed to serving the faculty and staff, enhancing their sense of achievement and happiness, and fostering a culture of dedication and entrepreneurship that views the university as a second home. Hu Xing exemplifies a pragmatic and responsible approach to her duties.

Hu Xing has dedicated significant effort to developing the Staff Home and Fitness Centre, seeking diverse opinions and designs to create a warm, appealing, and functional space. She emphasises, "If I fail to build a home for myself, it's only my own satisfaction at stake. However, the Staff Home is a home for hundreds of staff members. I cannot let them be dissatisfied." As she wishes, these spaces become the talk of the campus and the favorite spots for faculty and staff to unwind during breaks.

Hu Xing has taken a leading role in organising faculty and staff for public welfare activities. She initiated the "May Fourth Youth United Learning Activity: Tell Party History Stories and Be Progressive Youths" and has organised related events for four consecutive years, reaching an audience of over three million. These efforts have united and guided youths in firming their ideals and convictions, converting their learning into momentum for progress on new journeys.

With women accounting for over 60% of OUC's staff, Hu Xing has gained a deep understanding of their specific needs and challenges. She has organised distinctive events, established spaces like baby care and counseling rooms, and provided considerate services. Furthermore, she has incentivized women to excel in the new era through excellence-focused and award programmes.

Hu Xing has emphasised the importance of maintaining the Labour union's grassroot nature for effective work. Despite the labour union's small staff size, under her leadership and through sincere service, a substantial amount of energy from the broader faculty and staff has been channeled into union activities.

Hu Xing expressed her commitment to continue leveraging the labour union's role as a bridge under the leadership of the university's Party committee. She aims to unite the wisdom and strength of the faculty and staff to drive the university's high-quality development and contribute to building a strong educational nation and advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts.
