The National Teaching Innovation Competition for College Teachers, guided by the Department of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education and organised by the China Association of Higher Education, is a national-level competition aimed at advancing the construction of an educational powerhouse and the high-quality development of higher education, serving as a barometer for teaching reforms in higher education institutions. The 4th Beijing Teaching Innovation Competition was hosted by the Higher Education Department of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, with over 70 higher education institutions from the capital participating.
The OUC places a high priority on the construction of its teaching staff and the innovative development of education and teaching. It actively seeks platforms for competition and exchange with teachers from regular universities. Through in-depth communication with the Department of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education, the China Association of Higher Education, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and other entities, the OUC was able to participate in the competition for the first time this year as a university from Beijing. Under the leadership and guidance of the school leaders, the Department of Student Affairs and Teacher Development, in collaboration with various schools, Engineering Centre, OUC Online, and other departments, actively supported the preparation of the competing teachers. Thanks to the concerted efforts of the participating teachers and multiple departments within the OUC, the three teachers (teams) emerged victorious after competing with outstanding educators from renowned universities across Beijing, setting a strong precedent for the OUC's future participation in such competitions.
The competition has vividly showcased the spirit of responsibility and the outstanding teaching capabilities of the OUC's faculty. Moving forward, the OUC will continue to excel in organising and promoting the Teaching Innovation Competition, leveraging the exemplary role of the award-winning teachers to enhance the teaching skills of all faculty, elevate the quality of classroom instruction, and contribute even more significantly to the construction of a world-class open university with Chinese characteristics and the Seniors University of China .
