At the ceremony, it was emphasised that during this critical period of new challenges and opportunities in the AI sector, the collaboration between Xi'an Open University and Harbin Open University holds significant importance. By leveraging their respective strengths, enhancing academic exchanges, and collaboratively pioneering work on skills certificate grading standards and certification, the sibling universities aim to jointly promote innovation in AI technology within open education. Looking ahead, both institutions will use the establishment of the Institute as a stepping stone, starting with the AI application creativity competition, to further intensify their cooperation and explore even greater possibilities for AI applications in education, scientific research, and community services. The two sides are committed to working together to build a brighter future and contribute to AI development.
The Institute is tasked with three major development missions: first, to strengthen collaboration with government agencies, commercial enterprises, and research institutions, promoting the integration of industry, academia, research, and application; second, to explore the extensive application prospects of AI technology in fields such as education, healthcare, transportation, and finance; and third, to use AI technology to provide diversified learning paths and customized educational services, and to design and deliver relevant courses and training programmes, in line with the educational mission of open universities. The establishment of the Institute represents a significant step forward in scientific and technological innovation and the integration of industry and education for the two sibling universities, demonstrating the active response of open universities to the demands of the times and their assumption of social responsibility.
The leaders of both universities jointly unveiled the institute. Next, the AI Application Technology Research Institute from both universities will co-host the "Sun Island Cup" AI Application Creativity Competition.
