On 16 April 2024, Liu Xuanxuan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of the Open University of China (OUC, also known as Seniors University of China, SUC), led a delegation to Hunan Open University (OU) to investigate elderly education efforts. Zeng Baocheng, Party Committee secretary of Hunan OU, President Yang Bin, and Vice President Wu Min attended the symposium.
Wu Min highlighted the impressive strides made by Hunan OU in the realm of elderly education in recent years, and unveiled plans for future endeavours.
Liu Xuanxuan highly acknowledged the accomplishments of Hunan OU in elderly education and elaborated on the initiatives and successes of the SUC since its inception. Mapping out the roadmap ahead, Liu Xuanxuan outlined a strategy aligned with the overarching principle of "Completing the layout in the inaugural year, taking shape in the second year, and gaining momentum for development in the third year," pledging to accelerate the development of the SUC through "Ten Major Actions" including system and mechanism construction.
Zeng Baocheng extended gratitude for the guidance and support provided by the headquarters. He pledged that Hunan OU would fully leverage the demonstrative and guiding role, steadfastly implementing the "Ten Major Actions" of the SUC while working towards establishing the “Hunan experience” in elderly education.
The delegation led by Liu Xuanxuan also visited the school-operating achievement exhibition gallery of Hunan OU and the practical training centre for sports and health preservation at Hunan Seniors University. Subsequently, they conducted on-site inspections and researched the elderly education development at Changsha OU and Chenzhou OU.
