Recently, the Professional Committee for Education News Publishing of the China Publication & Promotion Association announced a preliminary list of typical cases for the integration of education and media.

The Open University of China (OUC) has successfully submitted a case titled The Model of “Convergence Media + Ideological and Political Education" Facilitating the High-quality Development of Ideological and Political Education in the OUC which has been included in the list.

The OUC has consistently upheld the principle of educating the mind and nurturing the heart with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. With a primary emphasis on cultivating virtue through education, the university leverages the strengths of its open education system and harnesses the power of educational digitalisation and modern information technology. Through the innovative approach of "convergence media + ideological and political education," it continually advances the high-quality development that fully unleashes the potential of ideological and political education within the open education system.

In the next phase, the OUC will maintain its focus on course development, media platform construction, and teacher training, among other key areas. It will consistently explore new ideas, concepts, mechanisms, and models to deepen the concept of ideological and political education within open education. The university will also strive to optimize the teaching approach for ideological and political education in the open university, while further advancing the integration of education and media.
