The Eighth Biennial Chinese Excellent Publication Award was unveiled in Beijing on 22 February 2023. Lectures on Science Popularisation by 100 Academicians and Experts (2nd Edition), which was jointly planned by the Open University of China (OUC) and the Work Bureau of Academic Division of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and produced by OUC Multimedia Press affiliated to the OUC Publishing & Media Group, received a publication award in the category of audio-visual and electronic publications.
The project has been selected as one of the backbone projects for national key books, audio-visual and electronic publications as part of the 13th Five-Year Plan, and has been funded by the 2019 National Publication Foundation.
Lectures on Science Popularisation by 100 Academicians and Experts (2nd Edition) focuses on the topics of cutting-edge and leading technology of the national strategy, major civil technology supporting economic and social development, as well as integrates hot issues in science and technology, covering a variety of disciplines such as big data, artificial intelligence, advanced functional materials, micro-electronics and so on. The lecturers include academicians who have made outstanding contributions to the scientific cause in China, as well as young scholars who are leaders in their respective disciplines. Cutting-edge research achievements, methodologies, and trends in different disciplines are presented in simple language by the lecturers with the help of well-designed video materials, allowing advanced science and technology and scientific concepts to spread among the general public.
The Biennial Chinese Excellent Publication Award is sponsored by Chinese Publication Association and is recognised as one of the highest prizes in the publication industry.
