In 2022, the Open University of China (OUC) has been following the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era, making stability our top priority and pursuing progress while ensuring progress, implementing the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, vigorously advancing the strategy and action of the digitalisation of education, creating a new development pattern for the high-quality development of open universities, constantly marching forward on the road to building a world-class open university with Chinese characteristics, and making great endeavours to contribute to building a society and country of learning where lifelong learning is pursued by all.

On 9 March, the signing of a strategic agreement between the Open University of China (OUC) and Beijing Jiaotong University (BJU) took place.

Two OUC Publishing & Media Group projects listed by 2022 National Publication Foundation in April.

 

On 13 April, the OUC held video meetings with Li and Butuo counties to discuss work on pairing assistance. The OUC’s support to these two counties has directly benefitted over 2,500 people.

On 28 April, the OUC held a joint learning event for youth in the OUC system, with the theme “Tell stories of rural revitalisation and be youth with the spirit to forge ahead”.

On 11 May, the first council of OUC Education Foundation of Beijing held its first meeting.

On 13 May, OUC’s “Chinese for Industries” textbook series included in People’s Daily’s recommendation list.

On 20 May, OUC Lifelong Education Platform officially launched.

An exceptional award ceremony was organised at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on 24 June to celebrate the six laureates of the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education, including the OUC.

 

On 28 June, the OUC celebrated the 101st anniversary of the founding of the CPC and held a commendation conference. Jing Degang, secretary of the OUC CPC Committee and OUC president, gave a lecture to all party members of the university.

 

On 12 July, the first OUC Congress of the CPC successfully convened.

OUC debuts at the World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference, promoting reskilling and upskilling for lifelong learning on 19 and 20 August.

 

OUC and BJU launch collaborations in Public Administration and Marxist Theory graduate programmes in September.

On 9 September, Li Zhixiang was named “2022 Beijing Outstanding Teacher”.

From 26 to 29 September, the OUC held the first training session for ideological and political education, an initiative to fully implement the high-quality development of ideological and political education in open education.

OUC operations showcased on the “Smart Education of China” platform in October.

OUC project approved to receive APEC funding for the first time in November.

 

On 8 November, the OUC held an opening ceremony for the training sessions for secretaries and presidents from open education institutions in local cities and counties. The ceremony was held both online and offline at the OUC headquarters.

On 8 November, the OUC held a learning session for its Party Committee, in which Professor Wang Huaichao was invited to deliver a lecture on the guiding principle of the 20th National Congress of the CPC.

On 8 November, the general office of the Ministry of Education issued the Notice on Unveiling the Seniors University of China in the Open University of China.

From 10 to 13 November, the OUC excelled in the 8th China International “Internet +” College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and won seven gold medals in the vocational-education category.

On 15 November, the OUC organised non-CPC personnel to visit the exhibition on the theme of “Forging Ahead in the New Era”.

On 19 November, the OUC Lifelong Education Platform launched a special section for the “studying the guiding principle of the 20th National Congress of the CPC via cloud classrooms” programme.

On 19 November, the second “High-level Forum on Research in Contemporary Chinese Marxism 2022” was held in Beijing, sponsored by the OUC.

On 19 November, the OUC Research Institute of Contemporary Chinese Marxism was established.

On 29 November, 600,000 OUC faculty and students studied the report of the 20th National Congress of the CPC via cloud classrooms.

The opening ceremony of the 2022 National Lifelong Learning Week was held on 30 Nov. 2022. The OUC promotes lifelong learning for all via information technology.

On 2 December, around 100 backbone teachers gathered to complete collective lesson preparations, advancing the guiding principle of the 20th National Congress of the CPS into their ideological and political classes.

The OUC selected as a national training base for teachers in the Nursing programme with “Dual Qualifications of the national vocational education on 7 December.

On 22 December, the OUC held a meeting with the theme “Jointly safeguard the health of older OUC members”, mobilising all OUC people to work together to care about older OUC members in a concerted effort to overcome difficulties during the pandemic.

On 29 December, the 21st China Conference on Distance Education was convened, aiming to promote the transformation of the digitalisation of education and lifelong learning.
