In order to further standardise and improve the Open University of China’s (OUC) student status registration, schooling record, and enrolment management, a training meeting was held on 30 November 2021.

It was held by way of on-site meeting and online live broadcast, and Gu Xiaohua, deputy director of the Academic Affairs Department, served as the chairman. Responsible personnel from the Academic Affairs Department and people in charge of student status registration and enrolment attended the meeting on site. Liu Yunzhao, chief of the Data Resources Service Department of China Higher Education Student Information and Career Centre, was invited to the meeting to give a special lecture entitled “The History of Building an Electronic Registration System for Student Status Registration and Schooling Record and the New Situations and Requirements.” He reviewed the development process of the electronic registration system from its pilot stage to the current status of being gradually improved, and gave a detailed interpretation of new situations and new requirements such as identification reviews, fact marking, and graduate image collection. In a summary speech, Gu Xiaohua said that the management of student status registration, schooling record, and enrolment involves the fundamental interests of students, and all branches and schools should attach great importance to it. It is necessary to practise strict and standard management based on the work deployment of the headquarters. It is imperative to intensify execution, enhance the sense of responsibility of those involved, do solid work, and safeguard the practical interests of the students. In light of the new situations and requirements faced in the management work, it is necessary to make plans and set out work in advance. A student-centric service philosophy should be put in place in order to make contributions to the high-quality development of the OUC.

All the participants said that the meeting was timely and that the experts’ teaching cleared up a lot of their confusions about the practical work. It will be of great significance in guiding student status record, schooling record, and enrolment management in the next stage. The participants hope that the headquarters will continue to hold such professional training meetings in the future in order to improve the management quality and service level of the OUC system and to enable high quality development.
