On 26 October 2021, the third session of the “Four Histories” online public class given by famous teachers was officially launched. The class was watched by 419,000 OUC students and teachers and received warm feedback.

The “Four Histories” series aims to strengthen the ideological and political education of OUC students and help enhance their political awareness, increase their patriotic faith, and understand the arduous progress of China’s reform and opening-up.

The course is taught by Liu Hanfeng, a researcher at the Beijing Party Building Centre and supervisor of doctorate and master’s candidates at Beijing Administration Institute. The course reviews the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC) by studying General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech on 1 July. The 1 July speech elaborates “Nine Musts” in a systematical way based on “learning from the history and forging ahead for the future.” It laid out a direction and fundamental principle for the second centenary goals of all Chinese people. Looking back over the Party history, the great changes and achievements made since the founding of the CPC, including the founding of New China, the implementation of China’s reform and opening-up, and the historic accomplishments since the 18th National Congress, can all be attributed to the original aspiration and mission of the CPC for the happiness of Chinese people and for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Studying the “Four Histories” online public class gives OUC students and teachers awareness of where they come from and encourages them to stay true to their original aspiration, greatly strengthening their faith in the nation and the Party, as well as enhancing their ideological and political awareness. The learning event teaches them to know history and to love the Party and the nation, to strengthen their consciousness and steadfastness to follow socialism with Chinese characteristics, and to commit unremitting efforts to the realisation of the historic mission of the Party in the new era.
