Since 10 September 2021, with local Covid-19 cases reported in Putian, Xiamen, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou and other cities in Fujian Province, the work of controlling infection has quickly escalated to its highest level there.
Many students from Fujian Open University (Fujian OU) have devoted themselves to working in local party and government departments at grassroots levels, on village (neighborhood) committees, and in enterprises, public-security organs, hospitals, and other front-line posts, where they have faced severe tests. Schools and colleges of the Open University of China (OUC), and radio and TV universities in numerous cities and counties, have called on their students to take on their responsibilities with courage and commit themselves to this task.

He is one of the more than 200 students working as village officials in the village. Xianyou was the first in Fujian to report confirmed Covid-19 cases during this outbreak – a large number requiring strict measures. Lin Jianhua, together with other students, coordinated to lead the control of infection there, giving no regard to personal safety, and working round the clock without eating or sleeping.
