Recently, the outstanding deeds of Zhu Shijie, a graduate of Ningbo Open University (Ningbo OU) and a workshop supervisor for the bridge-crane class of Ningbo Beilun No. 3 Container Terminal (Zhejiang Seaport Group), were selected for mention in a textbook of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

The textbook series, edited under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, is an important tool for conveying Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and for integrating ideological and political education into the curricula of primary and secondary schools, as well as colleges. This particular text, aimed at junior primary schools, presents the lives and dreams of representative workers, including Mr. Zhu, who has been named a Craftsman of the Year and National Model Worker, and his exemplary accomplishments.

Zhu Shijie enrolled in the junior-college Administration and Management programme at Ningbo OU in the spring of 2003, the undergraduate programme for the same major in 2010, and the bachelor-degree Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation programme in the spring of 2018. He loves learning, and is a diligent researcher. During his university studies, he was named an outstanding graduate of the Open University of China (OUC) and outstanding alumni representative of Ningbo OU. His innovative and efficient approach is very much in line with the spirit of "integration, openness and innovation" of Ningbo OU.

He is a pride of the university, which calls on all its students to follow his example of excellence and responsibility in ordinary work, and his efforts to become an industrial worker for the new era and help the construction of "Two-Four-Six" industrial clusters valued at trillions of yuan, leading the city toward common prosperity and opening a new chapter in his life.
