On the afternoon of 3 June 2021, the Party branch of the Human Resource Department of the Open University of China (OUC) held an activity combining stamp appreciation with education in the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC), together with nine other university Party branches, after consulting and coordinating with the Newspapers and Periodicals Distribution Bureau of China Post, the Beijing Post Education and Training Centre, and the China Post Office on Yongding Road.
The event, guided by an important speech given by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the launch meeting of the Party history learning and education campaign, and aiming to help promote and implement the OUC’s “Plan on Implementing Study of CPC History”, invited Yang Yanhong, a discipline leader with the Party-construction Teaching and Research Group of the Beijing Post Education and Training Centre, to lecture on "Appreciating Stamps and Learning CPC History". Cao Guoyong, executive deputy secretary of the OUC Party Committee, attended the activity.
Ms. Yang used exquisite stamps to convey stories about the founding of the CPC and the People’s Republic of China, the establishment of socialism in China and its construction, the reform and opening-up, and “socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era”, manifesting the tenacity and hard work of countless Chinese Communists.
Stamps are used by nations to represent themselves and their history, and Yang Yanhong gave an overview of the glorious history of the CPC by sharing the short but meaningful stories indicated by them, giving all the Party members attending a deeper grasp of Party history. It was a novel and appealing way of conveying that history.
An exhibition was also held of over 100 precious stamps showcasing the achievements of the CPC.
Over 80 members of 10 OUC Party branches, including the Human Resource Department, the General Office of Party and Administration, the Department of News and Public Information, the joint Discipline Inspection Department and Union branches, the Reform and Development Department, the Finance Department, the Retirement Office, Asset Management Department, the Logistics and Security Department, and the OUC Publishing & Media Group participated.
