In order to implement the document "Several Opinions of the Open University of China on Improving Quality of Education", promote the implementation of integrated practices and bachelor-degree applications, and enhance teaching quality, the Faculty of Agroforestry and Medicine held a meeting on the teaching and degree requirements for the undergraduate programmes of Agriculture and Medicine on 5 and 6 November 2020.
The event was attended by leaders of related majors, full- and part-time instructors, teaching and administrative personnel, and students affected. It attracted more than 3,000 live viewers in total, and over 1,100 to one session.
Li Guangde, vice dean of the Faculty of Agroforestry and Medicine, gave a speech outlining the basic requirements of the OUC for teaching practice and bachelor-degree conferral. Zheng Jipeng, vice dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, stated the OUC requirements for bachelor-degree English-qualification examinations for non-English majors in terms of syllabus, interpretation of sample test papers, and study materials.
The meeting undertook an overview of the evaluation of bachelor-degree theses in the Agriculture and Medicine majors over the years, pointing out common problems in the writing of these and the applications for bachelor degrees, and putting forward suggestions for improvement.
Leaders of the undergraduate Horticulture, Rural Regional Development, Nursing, Public-service Management (Health-service Management) and Pharmacy majors laid out the basic requirements in their majors, and made suggestions in terms of topic selection, graduation/dissertation (project) writing, academic norms, and integrity.
Li Pingfang, OUC Zhejiang-branch instructor, and Xu Haihong, instructor at the Taizhou Radio and TV University (Taizhou RTVU), Zhejiang Branch, presented the implementation of requirements in the Horticulture major there. Yang Aihua and Xu Yu, respectively instructors at the OUC Guizhou Branch and the School directly under the Guizhou Branch, introduced the implementation of requirements in their undergraduate Nursing programme.

The event, with its distinctive theme, rich contents, novel form, and high level of engagement, was successful. It was of great significance in terms of guiding the implementation of teaching and degree-application requirements in the majors of Agriculture and Medicine, and has received high praise from both teachers and students in the system.
