The Sixth China Construction Bank Cup Hunan Internet Plus College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held recently. Since the competition was officially launched in June this year, a total of 110 colleges and universities in the province have signed up, submitting 77,057 projects. The Hunan Branch selected nine outstanding items from the 1,275 projects submitted after preliminary contests held in the branch schools of Hunan Radio and TV University (Hunan RTVU) and a selective competition within the Hunan RTVU system.

The nine projects were recommended to participate in the first round of online evaluation in the provincial level competition organised by the Department of Education in Hunan province. Five of the projects qualified for the provincial competition after the online evaluation and were awarded the following prizes: one gold, three silver, and one bronze prize.

“The Art of Dancing: A Quality Education Leader in Street Dance for Teenagers,” a project from the Zhuzhou branch, stood apart from the 343 projects in the provincial competition and won first prize. “A New Type of Waterproof Technology for Building Roofs” submitted by the headquarters of Hunan RTVU, “Sunlight Farm” by the Zhuzhou branch school, and “Using Flowers as Media: Snail Garden Project Helps Farmers to Live a Prosperous Life” by the Yueyang branch school were awarded silver prizes. “Guardians of Health” submitted by the Yueyang branch school won the bronze prize. All of the prizes were in the vocational education category.

This was the first time for Hunan Branch to participate in the College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Teachers and students enthusiastically participated in the competition, and each participating project team made careful preparations during their summer vacation. The Student Affairs Office of Hunan RTVU strengthened overall planning and carefully organised the preparation work for the competition. A platform was established and favourable conditions were created for the participating teams, which effectively guaranteed the smooth progress of the work. The university actively cooperated with experts from the headquarters of the Open University of China (OUC) and a number of other senior experts  in entrepreneurship to provide one-to-one offline and online guidance to the participating teams on more than ten times. The expert instruction, which covered project naming, the presentation of innovative content, business model construction, PowerPoint presentation, and roadshow and question defence skills, significantly benefited the entrepreneurial project teams and improved the competitiveness of the entrepreneurial projects.
