The Open University of China (OUC) Training Centre, together with Chongqing Chengkou study centre and Chengkou Sunshine Vocational Skills Training School, recently organised an e-commerce training class as part of the OUC Long March Belt Education Project Targeted at Alleviating Poverty, combined with the current situation and trends of the development of e-commerce in Chengkou County.
The two-day training event attracted 40 students. Huang Danqing, executive deputy director of the OUC Training Centre, Xie Meiyan, vice president of Chengkou Teachers' College for Vocational Studies, Liu Chao, chairman of the labour union, and Zuo Yidong, director of the work station of the Radio and TV University, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.
The purpose of the training class was to implement the spirit of the Requirements for the Implementation of the E-commerce Training Program of the OUC Long March Belt Education Project Targeted at Alleviating Poverty and follow the requirements for Deepening the Implementation of the E-commerce Poverty Alleviation Action Plan of Chongqing and the Chengkou County E-commerce Poverty Alleviation Action Plan, so as to promote e-commerce in the countryside and enhance the e-commerce development level of Chengkou county. The training aimed to expand the online sales channels for agricultural and sideline products in Chengkou County and strengthen contact with Xiuqi town by taking measures according to local conditions and promoting the linkage effect of the project.
Tan Ganhong, the lecturer for the training class, has worked in an e-commerce group for many years. He has both a solid professional theoretical foundation and rich practical experience. He not only introduced professional theoretical knowledge and operation skills to the trainees, he also shared new ideas and trends in the industry.
In order to ensure teaching quality, the teachers who undertook the training tasks carefully prepared lessons, studied teaching materials, tried hard to understand their students, and learned the new teaching methods. In the process of teaching, they ensured that the teaching purpose was clear, paid attention to the scientific and ideological nature of teaching, and helped students to mobilise their enthusiasm for learning.
According to the actual situation of the trainees, the class was carried out using both online and offline learning. Face-to-face teaching allows the trainees to make better use of online learning so that they could master practical skills. The training was conducted during the agricultural slack seasons, which ensured that the trainees had time to learn. After taking the training class, the trainees felt that they learned a lot: First, they have broadened their horizons and gained an understanding of the international and domestic economic development situation, especially the development trends of e-commerce. Second, the trainees who were looking for ways to get rich were shown directions. Third, after the training, every trainee had formulated an entrepreneurship plan. 90% of the trainees were ready to start their own business with the help of e-commerce platforms and 80% of them provided detailed, feasible plans.
