In order to implement the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on family education, the School of Vocational Education and Training of the Open University of China (OUC) recently set up the Family Education Research Institute.

The Family Education Research Institute will follow a series of important instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping, including “focusing on family, family education, and family traditions and customs.” According to the requirements of the Instructions of the Ministry of Education on Strengthening Family Education and the Five Year Plan (2016 to 2020) for Promoting Family Education, it will gather experts and scholars in the field of family education to engage in theoretical research on family education, explore the construction of family education curricula, train family education professionals, and promote the construction of family education think tanks based on "scientific, systematic, professional, and effective" principles, so as to provide theoretical and practical guidance for and make scientific contributions to the construction of families and the development of family education.

In order to speed up the training of family education professionals and build a professional team that has a "professional understanding of family education, is capable of providing consultation and guidance for family education, and can effectively promote family education", the Family Education Research Institute of the OUC School of Vocational Education and Training launched a volunteer action plan called "Family Education Lecturer Group,” which selected 100 expert volunteers from across China to form a family education lecturer group to engage in the popularisation and promotion of family education. The first volunteer training session of the family education lecturer group will be held in Beijing from 30 November to 9 December 2019.
