In order to fully carry out the fundamental task of moral education, strengthen the construction of the Business Administration discipline and the development of the major, optimise teaching content, improve teaching quality, exchange experiences, and build consensus, the Open University of China (OUC) held a work meeting for the teaching research central group for Business Administration, Marketing, and Logistics management
from 14-15 October 2019 in Yueyang, Hunan Province. More than 20 members of the teaching research central group from the OUC’s headquarters and branches attended the meeting.
The meeting conveyed the spirit of the third plenary meeting of the teaching work committee and the OUC School Affairs Committee in 2019, and shared progress in areas such as the construction of course resources, the reform of online courses, the adjustment of the plan for the majors, the construction of shared majors, the application of postgraduate majors, the operation of teaching teams, “1+X” certificates, and learner development.
Associate professor Su Shengqiang from the OUC Shenzhen Branch; professor Gu Hong from the Hebei Branch; professor Lin Xiuqing from the Fujian Branch; and associate professor Ge Junyi from the OUC’s headquarters all gave speeches. Su Shengqiang talked about the design and organisation of the 2019 Business Administration Case Design and Analysis Competition held by the Shenzhen Branch and shared their takeaways about credit replacement rules, case compiling requirements, and incentives for participating students. Gu Hong shared the general situation of course guidance at the Hebei Branch in his speech “The Practice of and Thoughts on Course Guidance” and exchanged his thoughts on the combination of online and offline education, shaping new teaching culture, and strengthening ability cultivation. Lin Xiuqing shared the experience and practice of teaching implementation for the Procurement Management course from the two aspects of platform and resource construction and teaching and support services, and offered in-depth thoughts on the teaching team, technical support, and the role of head teachers. Ge Junyi introduced the progress of construction of the four newly-added majors: Business Administration (an undergraduate programme for senior high school graduates), marketing (a junior college program), Human Resources (an undergraduate programme) and E-commerce (an undergraduate programme) in terms of the background, characteristics, training objectives, learner development plans, and graduation requirements of the majors.
The participants discussed the construction and teaching reform of the majors, exchanged information on self-built learning resources and the construction of the online teaching teams in their branches, and talked about the progress of the Business Administration Case Design and Analysis Competition in 2019.
The participants also took part in academic activities as part of the “2019 Academic Forum of the Sub-committees of Management and Economics of the Second Academic Committee of the OUC.” It is hoped that the activities of the academic forum will play an important role in guiding the construction and high-quality development of related disciplines, improving the teaching and academic research level of members of the teaching research central group, and promoting the teaching reform of the Business Administration, Marketing, and Logistics Management majors.
