In order to strengthen the construction of teachers in the organisational system of the Open University of China (OUC), promote the professional development of teachers, improve the level of teaching in distance and open education, and enhance the comprehensive quality of teachers, from 19-22 November 2018,
the OUC held an advanced seminar for key business administration teachers. The targets of the seminar are responsible teachers from courses including Management Foundation, Human Resources Management, and Introduction to E-commerce Introduction, among others. Sixty-eight backbone teachers from the OUC’s 32 branches participated in the seminar and graduated successfully.
The seminar was hosted by the OUC’s Department of Student Affairs and Teaching Development and sponsored by the Department of Economic Management and Teaching. The seminar was organised around the major of business administration. Professor Niu Xiongying from the University of International Business and Economics, Professor Liu Wengang from Beijing Technology and Business University, and researcher Huang Hao from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Institute of Financial and Economic Strategies were invited to the seminar and gave special reports on the innovation of the human resources management major, the new characteristics of business management in the Internet era, and the new breakthroughs in e-commerce, respectively.
The seminar also included discussion sessions on the teaching of two courses: human resources management and management basics. Teachers discussed the reform of teaching in the major, examinations, and the construction of the teaching team and resources.
The participants indicated that by participating in the seminar, they not only understood advanced concepts and trends in business administration, broadened their horizons, inspired new ideas, and improved their professional quality and scientific research ability, but also deepened the friendships between teachers in the major within the organisational system of the OUC, which was conducive to enhancing the cohesion of teachers within the system and building an efficient teaching team.
