On the morning of May 16, 2016, the Information Technology Department (Research and Development Centre for Digital Learning) of the OUC, together with the Teacher Development Centre, undertook a cloud classroom application exploration.

The OUC selected Shandong RTVU, Hunan RTVU, Hubei RTVU, and Gansu RTVU to attempt the first real-time broadcast of the "Advanced Workshops for Backbone Teachers" lecture via the cloud classroom. This made it possible for teachers from various OUC branches within the school system to attend high quality online training without having to travel to the OUC headquarters.

This workshop was composed of session No. 1604 senior workshop for backbone teachers of the electromechanical major and session No. 1605 senior workshop for backbone tutors of the administrative management major. OUC president Yang Zhijian was invited by those sponsoring the event to open the class. President Yang delivered a report entitled Construction of the OUC, in which he elaborated on the "1314 project" that is currently in process and expounded the learner training mode featuring "Integration of Six Networks", providing the audiences with an overall and clear understanding of current state of the OUC’s key projects.

Live Cloud Classroom

As one of the teacher team construction projects, the OUC school system backbone teacher workshop (hereinafter referred to as the "workshop") aims to improve the teachers' professional level and comprehensive quality, as well as improve the teaching and management capability. The intended audiences of the workshop are teachers engaged in OUC school running, teaching, and management business; management and service personnel; along with researchers and technicians (collectively referred to as "teachers"). By the end of 2015, 59 sessions have been held, with a total of 4,168 tutors attending the workshop. The workshop has aroused great attention and popularity among teachers in the school system. The workshop provides face-to-face training. The lecture video was recorded and then posted on the workshop website (jsyx.ouchn.edu.cn) to share with the teachers within the school system.
