Chinese University Newspaper Association is a national social organization supervised by the Ministry of Education, and includes more than 1,000 institution members such as Peking University and Tsinghua University. "Chinese University Newspaper Good News Prize” selection is held each year with the aim of showcasing the annual work of national university newspapers and giving play to the demonstrative roles of excellent news works in order to promote the development of university news media. The prize of “Good News of Chinese University Newspaper” is the highest prize given in the news field for national university newspapers. The 2014 selection committee received a total of 3,032 works submitted by 645 colleges and universities from 28 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions nationwide. All of the works were officially published in the university newspapers. Submissions were divided into five categories: news, reports, views, layout, and news photography.
To strengthen the characteristic of the university newspaper, China RTVU Daily started a revision project in the first half of the year 2015 with the theme of "serving the students as a centre, developing the features as the basic points, with grassroots as the objectives”. The purpose is to emphasize the leading and service functions of the newspaper, bringing innovation to the content and form of the newspaper in order to enhance its impact and better serve the university and the majority of students. In terms of content, it intensifies and emphasizes the features of open and distance education, as well as promoting education and teaching reform; it also meets the learners’ increasing needs for individual learning. In the meantime, the newspaper also cares about the ideological education of the students and takes every opportunity to enrich their cultural and spiritual life. The newspaper is committed to becoming bosom friends of teachers and students from the OUC Headquarters and OUC systems. It has now become a carrier taking the lead in spreading campus culture in open universities, making a splendid cultural representative for the OUC’s. Meanwhile, the China RTVU WeChat official account has already launched, where readers and net friends are able to find the latest information and OUC-related trends, making online interaction anytime and anywhere possible by simply searching the account or scanning the QR code.
