Recently, the Open University of China (OUC) hosted a symposium for representatives of alumni.
Themed "Gathering to Share Past Experiences and Discussing Future Prospects," the event saw Wang Qiming, secretary of the OUC Party Committee and president, engage in dialogue and take a group photo with the alumni representatives. Liu Xuanxuan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, chaired the symposium, while Zhou Tianming, vice president, delivered a closing address.
Thirteen distinguished alumni from across the nation returned to their alma mater to celebrate the OUC's significant achievements over 45 years of operation. They shared their educational journeys, entrepreneurial stories, and life insights, offering valuable suggestions for the university's high-quality development.

Liu Xuanxuan, on behalf of the OUC Party Committee, warmly welcomed and sincerely thanked the alumni for their attendance from afar, extending heartfelt greetings to alumni nationwide. She emphasised that the OUC alumni, driven by dreams and a spirit of endeavour, have not only become leaders and role models in their respective industries and positions but have also firmly established themselves in service to the people and with a deep dedication to their motherland. Their significant contributions to various social endeavours have garnered widespread acclaim for their alma mater. The achievements of these alumni not only make the university proud but also fill the entire faculty and student population with a sense of honour and pride.
Zhou Tianming delivered a concluding address.
Zhou Tianming emphasised that the university's reputation serves as a brilliant calling card for its alumni, and the alumni's remarkable achievements are a golden emblem for the university, serving as a critical benchmark for educational quality. He outlined the "1234" strategy and the accomplishments of the OUC over its 45-year history, expressing the need to enhance the alumni work system, improve alumni service platform functions, and strengthen alumni liaison services. He invited alumni to support the university's development in various ways.
Professor Liu Zhimin, representing the faculty, congratulated the alumni on their achievements and introduced the university's educational and teaching advancements.
Following the symposium, the alumni visited the university history exhibition of the OUC (also known as the Seniors University of China).
The event was also attended by Li Guangde, dean of the School of Agroforestry and Medicine (Rural Revitalisation College); Gu Xiaohua, director of the Academic Affairs Department; Zhao Tingting, deputy director of the Department of Student Affairs and Teacher Development; He Jing, director of the Publicity Department (United Front Work Department); Zheng Jie, secretary-general (director) of the Secretariat of the OUC Education Foundation (Office of Alumni Liaison), along with other relevant staff members.
