In order to implement the guidelines put forward in Several Opinions on Strengthening the Construction of Situation and Policy Courses in Colleges and Universities in the New Era released by the Ministry of Education, enhance the provision of education on situation and policy for open education students, and further implement the teaching of ideological and political courses in Hubei Province, on the afternoon of 9 June, the OUC Hubei Branch launched a special live lecture on situation and policy for the spring semester 2020 through the OUC cloud classroom, using the cloud classroom's live streaming platform and with technical support provided by the OUC Online Education and Technology Co., Ltd.. A total of 1,500 teachers and students participated in the live teaching session in real time.

During the lecture, special guest Professor Li Chuanbing, a distinguished alumnus of the Hubei Branch, deputy director of the School of Marxism of Guizhou University, and doctoral supervisor, was invited to give a report titled A Review of the Current Relevant and Difficult Issues and the International Situation. Professor Li Chuanbing elaborated the mission of the era and the international situation faced by the Chinese Communist Party and the country from 17 aspects, including entering the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, achieving a decisive victory in building a well-off society in an all-round way, comprehensively deepening reform, seven-year achievements, five development concepts, the transformation of major social contradictions, giving priority to the development of education, the prevention and control of COVID-19, the Two Sessions in 2020, and the situation in areas surrounding China. the report encouraged the participants to build a sense of responsibility and mission and “use their youthful vigour to build a strong country.”

The lecture on situation and policy, presented with rich content and in a novel way, represents the reform and innovation of the Hubei branch’s ideological and political teaching model. It played a significant role in guiding and promoting open education students in taking a rational look at hot international issues, correctly viewing the national situation, firmly grasping the national lifeline, and creating a better future for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
