Modern History and Culture of North China, a collection of essays from a column in the Journal of Hebei Radio & TV University, was published recently by Hebei Education Press. The essays were selected from among 31 outstanding academic articles published in the journal’s Modern History and Culture of North China column. The book is broken into six chapters: culture, society, economy, figures, education, and military affairs.

The column launched in 2011 and has published consecutive 48 issues as of the 6th edition of 2018. Over the past eight years, the column has presented readers with a series of valuable research findings through the publication of 120 high quality essays. Now years of results have been collected and compiled into a book that will help people sum up past experience and set new goals for the future, as well as explore and deepen research of history and culture in North China and provide conducive references for social and economic development in the region. Furthermore, the column of aims to be selected as a “Famous Column Recognised by the Ministry of Education” of which the publication of the essay collection is a prerequisite for selection. As a result, this is of great significance in promoting the construction of famous column.
